The Lovely View Farm
is what we call this home away from home. The farm house is available for short term rental as ski lodging, for college events and commencement housing, and other selected vacation times during the year. It is convenient to Route 81, located off NYS Route 392 three miles east of the Greek Peak Ski Resort and not far from the Song Mountain and Labrador ski areas. Using the farmhouse as your base, a short drive or day trip will take you to Ithaca and the Cayuga Wine Trail, the Corning Museum of Glass, Cooperstown and the Baseball Hall of Fame, Binghamton University, the picturesque Fingerlakes village of Skaneateles, or the fine dining and nightlife in the Armory Square section of Syracuse. The farm house is about 150 years old and occupies a spot overlooking the valley below. The land is a scenic blend of high elevation meadows and mixed hardwood and pine forest. It is a peaceful place where you can hike the private logging roads, observe the great variety of birds and other wildlife, listen to the frogs, and do some serious star gazing. Early in the morning you can often watch deer browsing right around the house and in springtime you will likely catch a tom turkey in full display trying to impress a hen. At the foot of the hill is the Tioughnioga River, which the DEC stocks with brown trout. It is easily accessible for fishing or kayaking.
